Gardening Group : by Norma ShreeveWe are a group of U3A members with a shared interest in gardening and horticulture, in general, who meet once a month to have talks and demonstrations from specialist gardeners.
During the summer months the meeting usually takes the form of a visit to an interesting garden or garden centre. For example, we have visited Lydney Park gardens, noted for the rhododendron display in the spring, the Cadbury Garden Centre, Westonbirt Arboretum and several local private gardens like Wyndcliff Court.
Once a year, we arrange a plant sale where, for a nominal fee, members can purchase plants or cuttings, etc.. Books and magazines on gardening are regularly loaned or exchanged between members.
Although none of us are experts, we all share a love of growing plants. We pass on the knowledge that we have gained from our own success - or failure! - and we enjoy visiting beautiful gardens in the company of others who share our interest.
